30 Days Wild

1st June 2021

I hope that you are all enjoying your half term break in the sun. This is something I intended to send out last week, but time ran away with me.

Today marks the start of 30 Days Wild, which is a challenge from The Wildlife Trusts to complete one Random Act of Wildness a day for the month of June. You can sign up for free here and get a pack of ideas, from The Big Wild Breakfast to recording what you see on a walk, with masses of ideas in between. www.wildlifetrusts.org/30-days-wild-2021-sign-your-pack. The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust has a Team Wilder Facebook page which will have loads of ideas for #30DaysWild as well www.facebook.com/groups/655846058210039

There are a few ideas on Wild Things Facebook and I will post more once or twice a week if I get time. You can share your photos here as well if you wish www.facebook.com/Hook-Infant-School-Wild-Things-104175937899885

We have downloads on the school website which can also be used. Our club page: www.hookinfants.co.uk/website/wild_things/296038, our pre-lockdown/Facebook blog also has a few other ideas and downloads www.hookinfants.co.uk/website/wild_things_after_school_club/317607

To record your finds use iRecord for most sightings www.brc.ac.uk/irecord/ or Record Pool specifically for amphibians and reptiles www.recordpool.org.uk/

Most people are aware of my passion for wildlife and nature in general, but if you'd like to follow some of my activities I regularly post in the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Amphibian and Reptile Group's Facebook group. www.facebook.com/groups/455730808110700

I hope I haven't phased you out with all of the above links, but if I have... what a good time to get outside for those Random Acts of Wildness :)

Post any photos on the Wild Things Facebook page, or email them to office@hook-inf.hants.sch.uk.

I wish you a very wild half term and I look forward to finding out what activities you have all been up to.

Best regards, P West
