Remote PE Activities
First of all, we would like to thank you for continuing to support your children’s learning at home. We have seen some fantastic online learning being sent in.
During this difficult time, it is important that all children have an opportunity to be physical, not only is this important for their physical development but also their mental health and well-being. Children are spending more time undertaking screen-based learning and we need to ensure they are also able to access regular physical activity.
You may recall during the last lockdown Hampshire Games, provided weekly challenges for children to take part in at home.
This lockdown they have produced daily challenges. These daily challenges are similar to activities that your children would normally do during P.E lessons however, they have been adapted to make them suitable for home learning. Don’t worry about needing resources, very few are needed.
The daily challenges can be found on the school website, under the home learning tab. You will also find a printable score sheet. You can share your child's achievements with us by filling in this sheet and sending it to your teacher along with your work.
In the past, during the summer term we have offered cricket coaching from Chance to Shine. Chance to Shine is a national charity that aims to give all children the opportunity to play, learn and develop through cricket. They are also adapting their activities to allow children to partake during home learning, and live streaming on YouTube.
This week’s live session will be on Wednesday 27 January at 2-2.45PM. It will be a Super Striker session, improving pupils' ball-striking skills.
The activities can be completed indoors and to take part you will need:
- Something to hit with, like a bat, a frying pan or a hardback book
- 4 items to use as targets, something that won't break like plastic cups or empty tubs
- A ball or a rolled-up pair of socks
- A wall to rebound your ball against with safe space around it .
The session will be streamed on our YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/btflr02RzmE.
Do not worry if you can’t attend live as these sessions will be recorded so they can be watched back later.
Lastly, don’t forget Joe Wicks is again sharing his PE session for children and their families.
I hope these give you lots of ideas to keep your children active during home learning.
Thank you again for your continued support.
