Wild Things Autumn Term 2019

17th September 2019
WILD THINGS - AUTUMN TERM 2019

Wild Things, the school’s after school wildlife club, will be starting its Autumn Term sessions shortly. Mr West, Mrs Lochead and Mrs Heinemann run the club from 3.10pm to 4.30pm over eight sessions each term. Previously we have held the sessions on Thursdays, but we are changing this to Wednesdays for the Autumn Term.

Each session looks at a specific wildlife topic such as identifying a range of animals and plants, learning about habitats, habitat creation and a whole range of fun activities based around enjoying nature around us. Unlike other school clubs, it is important that the children have an interest in the subject as the emphasis will be strongly focused on learning about wildlife and conservation rather than play based activities.

There is an £8 charge per child for the term to help us to fund membership of the group to the Hampshire Wildlife Trust and purchasing equipment/materials. All children are expected to bring sturdy/rough shoes, warm outdoor clothes (long trousers/leggings are a must) and a waterproof coat as we will be spending a lot of our time on practical activities and the children are likely to get muddy or messy.

The club is for children in Year 1 and 2 and we have sixteen spaces available for the Term.

Please do not send in any money until we notify you that your child has a place.

The dates for the Autumn Term sessions are:

  • Weds 2 Oct
  • Weds 9 Oct
  • Weds 16 Oct
  • Weds 23 Oct
  • Weds 6 Nov (After half term)
  • Weds 13 Nov
  • Weds 20 Nov
  • Weds 27 Nov

We will post this information on the school website as well as via Parentmail. If your child is keen to learn about wildlife and would like to join our Autumn Term sessions please register your child’s interest at the school office by the end of the school day on Wednesday 25 September. We will shortlist the children for the available spaces and notify parents by letter on Friday 27 Sept if your child has a space.

Best regards

Mr West, Mrs Lochead and Mrs Heinemann
