After more than 15 years at Hook Infant School, first as an LSA and then as a Class Teacher, Mrs Cowdrey has decided now is the time for relocating and pastures new. We hope that her move will be smooth and that she gets to enjoy more special time with her family and grandchildren. We know that Dolphin Class children and parents along with her colleagues and friends will miss her kind and compassionate ways.

Some good news for Dolphin Class is that Mrs Roberts will be taking on the role of Class Teacher. She is already well known to the children in class as a regular PPA teacher for Year 1. Mrs Roberts looks forward to meeting you in the New Year as Class Teacher.

Friday 2nd December is a non-uniform day at Hook Infant School. Please bring any chocolate donations (if you are able) to your child’s class on Friday in support of our ever popular Chocolate Tombola. We look forward to seeing you at the Christmas Fair on Saturday 3rd December. I believe Grotto tickets have been once again extremely popular, being sold online although I am assured some will still be available on the day so families can enjoy the magic of Christmas trees, lights, glitter and all things sparkly.
5,4,3,2,1 Blast off!

Up, up and away they went. Thank you to Harvey’s dad who came in to help Year R end their space and rocket topic in style. Year R made their own rockets, watched a televised launch and then took their rockets out into the playground to send them as high as they would fly.
A message from School Nursing

We are pleased to announce the launch of This May Help, a new national initiative providing mental health advice to parents and carers being launched by Bradford District and Craven Health and Care Partnership. The website gives easy-to-follow advice to help families manage their child’s mental health. This advice was developed by NHS professionals and parents who’ve been through their own child’s mental health journey. Parents and carers have shared advice that helped them and that may also help other families.

The advice covered on This May Help includes: self-harm, gaming and online activity, teenagers safety, eating disorders, school avoidance, understanding mental health, understanding teenagers, online threats, building rapport, building resilience, building a support network, self-care tips, managing an emergency, managing in a crisis, and preparing for a children and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) appointment. These subjects were chosen by families and young people who have gone through their own mental health challenges. Gary Lineker, Myleene Klass, and Tanni Grey-Thompson are amongst 16 presenters featured in the films.

Year R Nativity request
Thank you for all the amazing Year R Nativity costumes. Please may we ask that girls have a pair of tights or leggings to protect their modesty and keep with their costume if they don’t wear tights every day. Thank you.

Year 2 Carol service request
Year 2 children do not have costumes this year, however they will need a coat and scarf (if you have one) on the day please.
The school office can be contacted by phone between 8am and 3.30pm on 01256 764487. Leave a message if we don’t answer as we may be helping another family on the other line. Alternatively, you can email the school office so your questions can be directed to the correct member of staff via office@hook-inf.hants.sch.uk (this is monitored during school hours).

If you would like to speak to your child’s class teacher please let the office know and your child’s class teacher will arrange a telephone call or appointment to see you.

Appointments can be made at 2.45pm from Monday to Thursday.
Safeguarding your children is our priority.
Please contact the schools Designated Safeguarding Leads, either Mrs M Walker (Headteacher), Mrs L Hannan (Deputy Headteacher) or Mr P West with any concerns. Further Safeguarding information and support can be found via www.NSPCC.org.uk or Childline 0800 1111
