I'm very pleased to welcome you to Hook Infant School's website and to introduce you to our wonderful school community.
I have worked here over thirty years and been Headteacher for fifteen of those, ably supported by a highly experienced, caring team of staff.
At the heart of Hook village, we have a very special parents association (the HSCA) who organise a packed calendar of popular events and we are connected geographically to the outstanding Hook Junior School, where the large majority of our children continue onto, benefitting from a smooth transition and strong local partnership.
Our educational philosophy is to ensure that all our children reach their full potential via our stimulating, varied curriculum and feel safe and happy in our care. Our school values underpin everything we do and ensure that children feel motivated to learn, valued as individuals and encouraged in all school activities, whilst helping to create our courteous, kind school community we can all feel tremendous pride in.
As an infant school, we are very fortunate to have a bespoke Early Years centre, allowing children starting with us in reception to do so in a highly specialised, secure environment tailored to welcoming them into the world of education! They have their own reception outdoor learning area, playground and playing field to enable a skilled, play-based continuous provision that introduces them gently to the school environment and enables them to thrive socially and academically with our specialist Early Years team.
We are proud of our grounds and children enjoy a calming sensory garden, popular outdoor book nook, outdoor learning area with firepit and several play areas to ensure that learning is not limited to the classroom setting. Our library is central to our school building and we are pleased to offer wraparound care via Koosa Kids as well as an extensive list of after school clubs.
Rated Outstanding at our last Ofsted inspection in 2015, we continually seek to maintain that standard and create the most optimal learning environment for each unique generation of children who join us to begin their learning journeys here. We pride ourselves on knowing each child as an individual and aim to make sure this is a warm, encouraging space for all our young people and their families.
A website can only ever give you a glimpse into a school and we would be delighted to welcome you for a visit to get to know the school and learn more about us; please do contact the school office to arrange a mutually convenient time.
We look forward to meeting you and showing you around our exceptional school.
