Year 2 Autumn 2023

This term our topic has been Amazing Adventures. So far we have been reading Traction Man and Winnie the Witch stories.

Here are some pictures of the learning we have done so far in Year 2. You will see that we have made vehicles for Traction Man in DT, been on a geography fieldtrip to do a traffic survey around Hook, retold a Winnie the Witch story through acting and completed some of our maths work outside. We have also taken part in lots of trailblazer activities which have been great fun! We hope you enjoy looking through our pictures.
Our topic this term has been Ocean Explorers. We have learnt about the Titanic in history and had the curators from Sea City museum in Southampton visit us.

We have also been thinking about plastic and the pollution in the ocean. The children have been learning about the problem and we were lucky enough to have Kate from Fleet Scoop come in to speak to the classes about the issues with single-use plastic. As our outcome all of the children have written a letter home to you which will inform you about the issue.

Our Art for this term has been very fun and messy! We have been learning about sculpture and looked at different medias used to create it. The children had a fantastic morning using Modroc (plaster impregnated bandages) to create a bauble shape. We have also used clay to make some creations that the children are looking forward to showing you at the end of term.

We also had a wonderful time at the firepit with Mr West where we drank hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows. They were super yummy and it was a great experience for everyone.
